What is RON?

In the world of title, you’ll probably encounter the acronym RON, which stands for Remote Online Notarization.

What is RON?🔗

Remote Online Notarization is an alternative to traditional in-person notarization, which requires both the Notary and the signer to be in the same physical location. Additionally, traditional notarization generally requires the use of paper documents, in-person signatures, and physical Notary seals.

To establish a signer’s identity, Remote Online Notarization utilizes multi-factor authentication or other forms of verification. After a signer’s identity has been verified, the Notary attaches an electronic Notary seal.

The signer renders payment, and the Notary records the notarization digitally.

And that’s about it. Remote Online Notarization is a fantastic, high-tech adaptation of traditional notarization processes. RON Regulations vary from state to state within the US, so be sure to check what options are available in your state.
